Winnie Foster is a sheltered 10 year old girl living in the late 1880's. One day she sees a young boy, Jesse Tuck, drinking from a spring in her family's wood. When Winnie tries to take a drink, Jesse stops her and reveals his family's dark secret. Winnie is then faced with the option to change her fate.

If the story was told from Jesse's point of view, I think that the story would be a lot different. One way it would be different is we wouldn't know much about Winnie's home life before she was kidnapped by the Tucks. We would only know the few details that she told Jesse and his family which would give us a whole new outlook on Winnie's character. We would see her as a spoiled child without really knowing her real story.I also think that the mood of the story would be a lot more cheerful and upbeat. Jesse seems so carefree and easy-going that it would have to be more like him if the story was from his point of view.
I think the book would be very different if it was told from the perspective of the man in the yellow suit. One way the story would be different is that we would learn more about Mile's family and how the story of the spring became a "myth". Another difference in the story would be the relationship between Winnie and the Tuck's would not be as powerful. The story would be more about greed and not about friendship or loyalty.
